When it was announced that Kitefoil would be in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, I thought, “impossible. I can’t be there, I’m not even going to try.”
A year and some months later, I began trying to find a way to attempt a campaign; I am 1.72 meters tall, weigh 62 kg (currently) so, we could say I start with a good physical condition base. I know how to foil and I have sailing knowledge.
After several meetings seeking financial support (since an Olympic campaign is very, very costly), I finally decided to abandon the idea of being one of the few from Fuerteventura to have gone to the Olympic Games.
My duties:
A few months ago, the International Sailing Federation (formerly ISAF), now World Sailing, called me to ask if I wanted to be part of the expedition going to Paris 2024 (in this case, sailing is in Marseille) to be part of the online communication team.
Evidently, I didn’t think much about my response.
I decided to keep the great news to myself because of superstitions, but now, just a few days before it starts, I can proudly say that, although in a different way, I am also going to fulfill a dream.
I will be managing social media along with my colleagues and presenting some videos on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
It is a great honor for me to be part of my first Olympic Games, and I am eager to start working. See you in Marseille
