This is my behind-the-scenes look at the C Kite Festival in Mauritius—where world-class kiteboarders, epic sessions, and unforgettable island vibes come together. From who was there to what we did, I’ll give you the inside scoop on this unique event and why I can’t wait to go back. Let’s ride!
What is the C Kite Festival?
The CKite Festival is an annual kiteboarding event that brings together passionate riders, photographers, and enthusiasts from around the world. Hosted in Mauritius, the festival celebrates the spirit of adventure, community, and the thrill of kiteboarding against the backdrop of the island’s stunning beaches and turquoise waters. It’s not just about competition—it’s about sharing experiences, learning from each other, and enjoying the beauty of the sport in a breathtaking setting.

Who was there
The festival attracted a vibrant mix of people:
-
Professional kiteboarders: Including Hannah Whiteley, Tom Court, Louka Pitot, Val Garat, Antoine Auriol (one of the images of the event and also best organizer ever) and Gisela Pulido.
-
Content creators: My favorite photographer Ricardo Pinto and videographer Diego Cardoso captured every exciting moment.
-
Event organizers and friends: Antoine Auriel, who invited me, and many other familiar faces from previous events.
-
Kiteboarding enthusiasts: Both seasoned riders and newcomers, all eager to connect and enjoy the festival atmosphere.

[18:12, 11/07/2025] Julia pero se dice Yulia: The CKite Festival was packed with memorable activities:
Kiteboarding sessions: From light-wind downwinders to freestyle tricks, the flat, reef-protected waters were perfect for riding.
Treasure hunt: A playful welcome at the hotel set the tone for a fun-filled stay.
Catamaran trip: We explored the coastline, soaking in the scenery and sharing laughs on the water.
Social events: Evenings featured local music, a DJ, and a live saxophone—impossible not to dance!
Reunions and networking: It was a chance to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, all united by a love for kiteboarding.

The experience in a nutshell
Travel: The journey was long—over 30 hours from Madrid via Turkey and Nairobi—but arriving at the C Mauritius Hotel on Palmar beach made it worthwhile. There’s many direct flights, just check what fits you best.
Recovery and riding: Despite a recent shoulder injury, I jumped right back into kiting, supported by friends and the welcoming festival vibe. I am specially grateful to Antoine Auriol and C Mauritius for their trust in me and for giving me the chance to be back in the water in such an amazing environment.
Highlights: The sense of community, the stunning natural setting, and rediscovering my passion for kiteboarding made the CKite Festival truly unforgettable.
Mauritius’s east coast, the energy of the festival, and the people I shared it with have left me inspired and eager for the 2026 edition
See you on the water,
Julia
